Apply Punjab Bike Scheme – Launch Date & Payment Details

Newly elected Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced different transport projects and schemes in the province. Providing E-Bikes to students in easy installments is one of them.

Punjab authorities have some exciting news for students: electric bikes are on their way! Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given the go-ahead to the motorcycle scheme, which aims to facilitate transportation for students across the province.

In a recent meeting in Lahore, the provincial administration presented a plan to provide more than 20,000 electric and petrol motorcycles to citizens, especially students, through interest-free loans. Even former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was present in the meeting showing the importance of this initiative.

The main focus of discussion was improving transportation for students. Apart from electric bikes, hybrid bus services for students were also included in the agenda.

In a major move towards promoting accessibility and reducing the burden of transportation costs on students, the Punjab government has unveiled its much-anticipated Bike Scheme 2024. The initiative, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to provide 20,000 e-bikes to students. Across the region, focusing on affordability and convenience.

The repayment structure of the scheme is straightforward and student-friendly, requiring a down payment of Rs 25,000 and ensuring that monthly installments remain below Rs 5,000. This approach not only addresses the challenges faced by fuel and bike price hikes but also empowers students with a reliable means of daily commuting.

In partnership with the Bank of Punjab, the government plans to initiate the distribution process through a scheduled draw in May 2024. Additionally, a separate scheme is in the works to cater specifically for high-achieving students, further enhancing access and inclusion.

Installment Details & Plan

Total Bikes: The government plans to distribute a total of 20,000 bikes, out of which 1,000 will be electric bikes and 19,000 will be petrol bikes. And guess what? Students won’t have to worry about paying any interest on their monthly installments.

Installment Plan: To make it easier for students, the Punjab government has teamed up with the Bank of Punjab (BOP) for bike distribution. The monthly installment for electric bikes is set at Rs. 10,000, while for petrol bikes, it’s Rs. 5,000.

Delivery: Transparency is key, so the government has decided to hold a draw in May to ensure fairness in the distribution process.

Quota: To ensure equal opportunity, quotas have been set. In urban areas, the bikes will be evenly split between male and female students. However, in rural areas, there’s a bit of difference with 70% of the quota reserved for male students and 30% for female students.

This initiative by the Punjab government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), aims to ease the burden of transportation for students, making it more accessible and affordable. With electric bikes hitting the roads soon, students can look forward to a smoother ride to their educational institutions.

How to Apply for E-Bike:

Online application for the electric bike scheme will begin in the coming months. Under the scheme, students of schools and colleges can get a bike through easy installments with minimum interest rate. In the first phase, the scheme will be implemented in major cities like Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad, with plans to expand to smaller cities in Punjab.

There will be separate quota for male and female students in this scheme. The process of approving student applications for the scheme will be carefully managed to ensure its success and efficiency.

Interested candidates can apply by submitting their applications for approval on the official platform in May this year.

Total number of bikes

The provincial government will provide a total of 20,000 bikes to the students, including 1,000 e-bikes and 19,000 petrol bikes. It is to be noted that no interest will be charged on the monthly installments from the students.

Monthly Installment

Punjab Government has partnered with Bank of Punjab (BOP) for distribution of bikes. The monthly installment of e-bikes and petrol bikes is fixed at Rs. 10,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively.

Delivery of bikes

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led provincial government has decided to conduct the lottery in May this year to ensure transparency in the scheme.

Quota

In urban areas, the quota will be equally distributed, with 50% reserved for male students and 50% for female students. In rural areas 70% quota will be reserved for male students and 30% for female students.
