Four Martyrs Pushing Army Militants Back Into Afghanistan

At least four security personnel claimed martyrdom while more than 16 militants were killed on Wednesday as militants’ attempts to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan were foiled by troops deployed along the border with Afghanistan.
In Lower Chitral, militants attacked two security check posts in the southern part of the district early on Wednesday. In the early morning attack, check posts were targeted at Istoi Pass and Janjirat Koh, south of Lower Chitral, bordering Afghan province of Nuristan.
Astoi Pass is located in the Bomburit Valley, one of the three valleys of South Chitral where the Kalash community resides.

Polio virus was found in the sewage of Karachi and Peshawar.

Four environmental samples collected from Karachi and Peshawar have tested positive for poliovirus.
According to sources at Pakistan’s National Polio Laboratory at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the lab has confirmed the presence of type-1 wild poliovirus (WPV1) in four environmental (sewage) samples from Karachi and Peshawar.
“Three samples were collected from Peshawar and one sample was collected from Kemari area of Karachi district,” said an official, requesting anonymity.

Interior Secretary Abdullah Sambal passed away.

Federal Secretary Interior Abdullah Khan Sambal died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday after suffering from fever for a few days. He was taken to CMH Hospital Lahore but could not survive. He was 53 years old.
His funeral prayer will be offered on Thursday after Asr prayer at Habib Masjid Tufail Road Lahore Cantt. He is survived by his wife and a son.

Pakistan proposes ways to keep UNSC resolutions alive.

Pakistan has proposed setting up a standing committee to ensure implementation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, such as on the Kashmir dispute.

The KP Cabinet raised the minimum wage to Rs 32,000.

The caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday approved raising the monthly minimum wage of unskilled workers in the province from Rs 25,000 to Rs 32,000.
